Beautiful building, BUT how many ritual "blood atonement" deaths have been done here ?

I am glad I am not a Mormon, and I do not want any control from them in my life.

Not now, but THEN !
By the way, I don't believe in eternal damnation, tho I believe in an afterlife right after death.

THEN was roughly the 1840-1900 period, after the Temple went up.

Hm, and what "reliable" source did you hear this from?

The doctrine of Blood Atonement was in Mormon scripture, decreeing the execution by shedding of one's blood for murder, and for adultery, marriage with a Cainite, and apostacy. Lee, the instigator of the great Massacre, was shot for his crime. Executions by firing squad were done in Utah until very recently. While the doctrine has been abolished by the Mormon church, it is still upheld in polygamist fundamentalist groups and some individuals have committed murders in the name of Blood Atonement.

You'll find a full explanation in the Wikipedia. I just came from there and then back here, and can hold just so much in my head.

As I said, the claims, teachings and rules of the Mormon church, and its control of the lives of its members* I want no part of. Nor do I want any church that practices excommunication to suppress and control its members, in my life.

* Mormons are, I understand, made to believe that they have spirit children awaiting birth ,and are thus encouraged to have more children than they would normally want. A PBS documentary on Mormonism wrapped up with the study of a case where a woman, convinced by the church that she still had a spirit son awaiting birth, disregarded the urgent advice of her doctor NOT to have any more children - her pregnancies had complications and the last one almost killed her- and got pregnant again. A baby WAS born, but she died soon after giving birth, tho the doctors did all they could to save her life.
